Privacy Policy

With your permission, we use your device location to center the map on you and to show how far each restaurant is. On the web this uses your browser's location; in the iOS app it uses Apple's location services. Your precise location is used on your device and to request nearby places from the map provider — we do not store it on our servers and we do not use it to identify or track you. You can decline location and still search by moving the map.

Maps, place search, and place details are provided by Apple Maps / MapKit. When you search or move the map, the visible area and your query are sent to Apple to return nearby restaurants, subject to Apple's privacy policy.

If you use the optional Help Me Decide feature, the text you type about what you're craving — along with the list of nearby restaurant names — is sent to our AI provider (Rork Toolkit) to generate suggestions. Don't include personal or sensitive information in that box. We don't attach your identity to these requests.

When ratings are enabled, we send a restaurant's name and location to Yelp to retrieve its public star rating and review count. We do not send any information about you.

Restaurant photos come from each business's own public website preview images and from Apple Maps imagery. We cache them on your device so the app loads faster.

Your preferences (such as saved favorites and your chain-filter strictness) are stored locally on your device only. We do not have a server-side database of users. Caches (photos, ratings) also live on your device and are cleared when you clear the app/website data.

Anything But A Chain is rated for all ages and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy as the apps evolve. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
